We’ve been getting a lot of questions about when the new version 5 content is going to be complete for CCIE R&S Volume 1, and you will all be happy to know that development is quickly proceeding and has integrated some new changes based on the feedback we’ve gotten thus far. A new sample of the final format of the content can be found here. The diagram can be found here. Breakdown content is now much more detailed as you can see from the sample. This format is a lead-in to our new CCIE Routing & Switching Advanced Technologies Class-on-Demand Version 5.0, that will be nearly THREE FULL WEEKS OF CONTENT. While the current 4.1 content is exceptional, there are certain topics that were cut short to fit into the two week format. We envision a 100% complete release of Volume I Version 5.0 and the CoD Version 5.0 within the next six weeks, and optimistically a large portion of the new Volume II Version 5.0 and Volume III Version 5.0 content. Beta testing will begin for all of this material shortly. More information will be posted on how to apply for the beta process.

Happy labbing!

    Hey Brian,

Does the investment protection give people who own v4 of the workbook and CoD give access to the new v5 versions?

    Thanks,
    Jo

  2. Absolutely it does. The only thing not free is new printed copies of workbooks or new DVD copies of the Class-on-Demand. There is a minimal production and shipping charge for these items.

  3. Jo says:

Great! Looking forward to the new content, especially the CoD.

  4. Andrew says:

Investment protection has to be one of the best things ever especially as these products are not cheap. I am really looking forward to the new CoD even though I am still fighting my way through the current version. The new tab feature is something I am really looking forward to and hopefully the audio quality is really good. Also been having a look at the new Workbook 1 and I really like the format. Good work guys and thanks very much!

    Hi Brain :-

Are the COD 4.1 also re-recorded or you will add new contain in the existing COD 4.1

    Regards

  6. Quick question… CoD v.5 will be delivered both ways (Online and DVD) right?! Or it´ll be only in DVD format?!

  7. Class-on-Demand version 5 is not an update to version 4, it is a major forklift upgrade. It will be delivered both online and in DVD format. The release will start with online first and then the DVDs will become available a few weeks after.

  8. CCIE Journey says:

So does that mean I should stop with my second viewing of version 4 and wait for version 5 :) ?

  9. It depends on when you lab is. Like I mentioned before, the version 4 content is excellent, however version 5 will be a little more clearly organized and more in depth for certain topics.

  10. CCIE Journey says:

With Cisco not changing the lab will that hasten the release of version 5?

  11. Yes. Final development was contingent on official announcements from Cisco on updates to the blueprint.

  12. [...] Internetwork Expert Brian Dennis talked about this a bit during the workshop last week, but now that it’s on their blog it’s “official”.  :-)  There’s a new version of the ATCOD coming in the next couple of months.  Brian promised that [...]

  13. Paul says:

    Hi Brian,

Is the plan to release these as they are completed or all at once?

    Regards,

    Paul.

  14. The Class-on-Demand I’m not sure yet. The self-paced workbook labs are incremental electronically until a fully finished print version is ready. We may post one or two new CoD modules to get feedback on the new format before proceeding 100%.

  15. Jon says:

    Hi Brian,

I like the new version 5 volume 1 is documented. It’s just like the current v4.1 vol 2 workbook. There’s side notes and the headers for each sections which make the activities more interesting.
Moreover, the approach to each tasks now makes me think more. This is one good workbook that I can’t wait for its full release.

Any idea when will you be posting the new COD modules?

    Regards
