Austin has devised a dial plan that meets the needs of his company (Backyard Adventures, Inc), and one of the core components of it meets a requirement set forth by his company’s executive branch – namely, that although people in U.S. offices of his company dial a ’9′ as a PSTN access code prior to dialing any additional digits for outside public calls, the executive branch dictates that they do not want the IP phones that dialed such a number to see that preliminary ’9′ on the phone’s display, once the call has been placed.
(e.g. If Pablo dialed 9-206-501-5111 for a local call in Seattle, then his display should only show 2065015111 once the call has been placed)

When Brian Dennis and I first started INE back in 2003, we had one goal in mind, to provide a complete self-paced CCIE training solution.  Together we built our products from the ground-up, innovating a new high quality standard for delivering self-paced workbooks and video based training at an affordable price.  This approach has helped thousands of engineers achieve their goal of becoming a CCIE and made INE what it is today, the industry leader in CCIE training.

In 2008, due to the continually increasing demand for our live and self-paced training, we decided to look outside of INE for new instructors.  We knew at the time that the vast majority of our students wanted, and expected, to see Brian Dennis, Petr Lapukhov, or myself doing the delivery of live bootcamps and self-paced video training.  In making these changes, we expected to receive some level of push back from students initially, but not the level we received.  We also figured this would change over time.  However two years later, we still received the same level of push back.  Students came to INE because of the reputation Brian, Petr, and myself had built over those first five years to become the industry leader in CCIE training that we are today.

During these last two years, Mark Snow became part of our CCIE Voice development team.  He has built his own reputation as a leader in this industry, and we have received immense positive feedback about the innovative and high quality work that he’s done with us.  Mark’s Deep Dive series has been a breakthrough product in the CCIE Voice training industry and you will begin to see similar products in the other CCIE tracks in the coming months.  Mark has since been elevated to head of our voice development efforts, and we’re proud to have him as part of our core team of instructors.

After our recent announcement of our new All Access Training Pass we have received a enormous amount of positive feedback about the program.  In addition to this feedback we have received several questions about the program.  This post is designed to clarify some of these questions.

Q: Who is this training program for?

A: This program is targeted towards students who are on a tight budget, and are looking to get the most amount of training for a small amount of money.  Also, it allows for anyone studying for their CCIE to use the most expensive stand alone products, like the R&S Advanced Technologies Class, along with other training products at a much lower cost.  Lastly, it ensures you are covered when new products are released.

Q: Is this product just for R&S and Voice candidates?

A: No.  In short, Routing & Switching and Voice customers will gain the most value from the subscription, as there are more products in these tracks, however there are new products coming to all tracks which will be added to your subscription.  Also there are some topics that are good for all CCIE candidates, such as the overlap in technologies from Service Provider to Routing & Switching.

Q: What products are going to be released or updated during my subscription that I will have access to?

A: In the next year we have plans to not only update existing products and release totally new products, but also to expand upon some of our most popular products like the Voice Deep Dives.  The core of updates will focus on products that were not developed and presented by Brian McGahan, Petr Lapukhov, Mark Snow or myself.  The Routing and Switching Advanced Technologies Class along with the Security Advanced Technologies Class are just a few examples of products we are updating.  Any products updated or released will be automatically added in your subscription.

Q: What happens at the end of my subscription?

A: At the end of your subscription, access to all subscription products will be removed unless you renew your subscription.  Products that you’ve previously purchased on their own will remain in your account.

Q: What is the renewal price of my new subscription?

A: Before your subscription expires you will be able to extend the subscription for an additional year for just $999. (Option added at checkout) This is a 35% savings from the initial one year subscription.

Q: Is my subscription auto-renewed?

A: Yearly subscriptions will not be auto-renewed.  You will receive a email reminder before products expire to make sure you can take advantage of our renewal pricing.

For your convenience and to prevent interruption in service, monthly subscriptions will be auto-renewed every thirty days.  You can cancel your subscription at any time.

After 2 years I passed CCIE R&S Lab on Feb 17. First of all thanks to the Almighty God who has given me this success and play the main role in that. I want to thank my family and colleagues who support me a lot during last 2 years, especially my wife, her great patience and supportive behavior was a great help for me. INE you are great! I used Advanced Technology CoD and all Workbooks, as well as one Mock Lab. Your sophisticated products are more than the exam requirements, the detailed conceptual designed Volume 1 Workbook is like a university.

This isn’t exactly the latest news, and doesn’t effect the CCIE Voice Lab exam (although it very well may effect the new CCNP Voice exams), however I am hearing more and more how people are upgrading their Voice routers with newer 15.x IOS code, and not realizing how existing (working) VoIP calls are being broken due to new, intelligent feature default configurations.

Last July, Cisco decided (wisely, IMHO) to create a new style of Toll-Fraud prevention to keep would-be dishonest people from defrauding a company by placing calls through their misconfigured voice gateway(s), at the company’s expense. This new mechanism works by preventing unintended TDM (FXO/CAS/PRI) and VoIP (H.323 & SIP) calls from being able to be placed through a given company’s voice gateway(s), by simply blocking all unknown traffic. Beginning in IOS 15.1(2)T, Cisco added a new application to the default IOS stack of apps that compares all source IP address with an explicitly configured list in the IOS running config, and if the IP address(es) or subnets do not match, all VoIP traffic is denied. Also, the new default for all POTS voice-ports is to not allow secondary dial-tone, making direct-inward-dial the default for CAS/PRI, and PLAR necessary for FXO.

Lab’s 1 & 2 from INE’s current CCIE Voice Volume II Workbook have been completely re-written from the ground-up, and have now been pushed to all subscribers in their INE Members area.

These two new labs both contain video-based solutions, which walk you — task-by-task — through every step of the necessary configuration, along with plenty of live troubleshooting, just as we should expect when sitting for the actual CCIE Voice Lab exam.

For the first two labs alone, we have recorded over forty hours of video-based solutions.

We are in the process completely of re-writing every lab in the Voice Volume II Workbook, and will be releasing them and posting announcements here about each new lab as they are completed. We will also be releasing new CCIE Voice Deep Dives here shortly. So stay tuned for much, much more from INE’s Voice program.

Pablo is using his Cisco 7961 IP phone. He goes to look at his ‘Missed Calls’ and sees that he missed a call that had come in from a local PSTN number. The number in his missed call looked exactly like this:
+12065015111

He needs the ability to look at this missed call and simply press the ‘Dial’ softkey –and nothing more– to return the call immediately – with no inter-digit timeout, and of course successful call routing back to the PSTN caller.

In our series on CCIE Voice Troubleshooting and issues you may encounter during your lab exam, we last looked at problems with European MGCP GWs and Mobile Connect, and today we would like to continue that series by exploring the issues that you might run into in a number of situations related to logins to the Cisco Unified Contact Center Express product.

Perhaps one day you go to login to the UCCX Administration page, and you find that the user that either you, or someone else setup -initially in CUCM and told UCCX to use as it’s administrative login- no longer works properly. You try and reset the password in CUCM (or possibly in Active Directory), and then try to login to the UCCX Administration page again, but alas, still no luck to be had. This issue could present itself in a number of situations, perhaps in self-study, during the actual lab exam, or very possibly even in a real-life scenario.

This video from our brand new Volume II lab video solutions will walk you through both the problem and quick solution to get you back into your UCCX, and able to re-link either the existing/should-work administrative user, or choose a new user for all future admin logins.
