Friday Oct 11th starting at 10am PDT I’m going to be holding an all day online R&S CCIE session covering IPv4 Route Redistribution Configuration and Troubleshooting. From the R&S CCIE Bootcamps I know that some of the more popular topics are IPv4 route redistribution, IPv4 multicast and MPLS L3 VPNs. I’m going to start with IPv4 route redistribution first since it can be covered in a single 5 to 6 hour session. I’ll cover the other two later this month as IPv4 multicast and MPLS L3 VPNs each needs to spanned over two days (two 6 or 7 hour sessions) to fully cover them. Let me know in the comments what other topics you would like to see done after. Please say SDN! ;-)

To sign up for the session click here. These sessions will be recorded and the configurations will be available so you can follow along with the recordings. I will be using the larger 32 device R&S topology which can be rented through your members site account.

    “uh… SDN” ;-)

  2. Pablo Lucena says:

Definitely SDN stuff! Would this involve programming (actual Java or Python coding), or concepts?

    Thanks!

    Pablo

  3. Ian says:

Nice one Brian, really need these!!!!
    Maybe some IPv6 and Services???

    Thanks :)
    Ian.

  4. kenyonej says:

All those topics are great, including SDN! I’m actually purchasing a book coming out by Jeff Doyle in November covering this hot topic!

  5. Ethan M. says:

Will we be able to use a GNS3 topology for this to follow along?

  6. Xannatulphirdous says:

    really helpful for networkers……..

  7. etonde says:

    Sir Brian

I wish you could cover the Spanning-tree (+ MST) in more detail, especially traffic engineering, filtering tools usages from L2 perspective , SPT security related topics. (how they mixed up together), and certainly troubleshooting methodology.

    Moreover,
please advise on renting policies. Many Thanks in advance

    and SDN…… hehehe ;-)

  8. Reymon says:

Thanks a lot in advance! Please cover as well IPV6, IP Services, BGP and lastly SDN ;) Is INE going to create a workbook for SDN eventually?

    Cheers!
    -Reymon

  9. Marcio says:

    SDN for sure

  10. Carlos says:

yes totally Agree, this are good news about the redistribution session.
About the other topics im very interested in Multicast and MPLS L3 Vpn, and also SDN!!

  11. Deepak Arora says:

Looking for same sort of initiatives for SP/DC and DE tracks.

    Thanks!

  12. kenyonej says:

Also, I agree with etonde; those layer 2 topics I always have to continue to refresh on because I don’t use them very much. But definitely some MPLS and BGP as well!

  13. Alessio says:

    Hi Brian,
i would like to ask you if you could mention route redistribution in terms of CCIE SP track. I am preparing my lab and it is a kind of difficult to mathematically understand when , for example, metrics need to be defined or when they will work with the defaults.

    Thanks :)
    Alessio

  14. Jon says:

Maybe QoS in non frame relay scenarios??? QoS in HQ and Branch office scenarios using different circuits such as metro-e, cable, DSL, etc..

  15. Ciprian says:

    Hi,

Catalyst QoS would be a nice topic.

    Thanks,
    Ciprian.

  16. Jon says:

    Pfr and L2 QoS please

  17. Roy says:

How about Nexus Route Redistribution and then Nexus Route Redistribution with Catalyst?

    Thank you,
    Roy

  18. Matt Butcher says:

MPLS L3 VPNs would be very helpful. I have gone thru the 8 videos for ATC but more would always help!!

  19. AJN says:

    Hi Brian, great initiative.
Will the session be available for later review?

    Definitely SDN!

  20. Cletus says:

Brian u such a brilliant mentor i think redistribution is okay as we dont have so much data on it.

I cant wait for the next two courses in multicat and MPLS please it surely better be this month. i struggle with the two.

I cant wait for the lecture eish its been long i love ur humor too. hope we we will some of the new Brian Jokes.

    Cletus

  21. Robert says:

    Brilliant session, thank you Brian!

  22. Matt Butcher says:

I really have a better understanding of the complexities route redistribution; thanks so much!!

  23. Roger Perkin says:

    Brian,

This was an awesome session, I learnt a few things I didn’t know and am going to spend the weekend really hammering redistribution now.

Thanks for your dedication to CCIE!

  24. anna says:

    Great session.

I was awake the entire night from 10.50 PM to 6.40 AM :)

Brian you are a great teacher.

The effort you take to explain the concepts is unbelievable.

Infinite thanks or thanks in a loop :)

  25. Ethaya says:

    Brian,
Really awesome session….learned many new things in that….Thanks a lot. Will the recorded video be available for future use?

  26. Sergey says:

Is it possible to access recoding? I have checked member part of the site with no luck :(

  27. Deepak Arora says:

When the session will be available for offline view?

  28. Francisco says:

    Hello Brian

The session will be available in the Free-V-Seminaries or APP?

I can’t see all the session and was fantastic

    Best Regard

  29. Jad says:

    Very informative session. Thanks Brian!!
Looking forward to attending the next ones.

  30. Ciprian says:

Thank you Brian for this awesome IPv4 redistribution session. Looking forward for the recorded videos on redistribution topic that you mentioned during the live session and for the following mpls and multicast sessions !

Thank you a million, INE rocks !!!

    Ciprian.

  31. Panos says:

Too bad i missed this session! :( (
Brian, when will the recordings be made available for AAP?

  32. MOHD IMRAN ALI says:

    HI BRIAN SIR
my name is MOHD IMRAN ALI and i m preparing for CCIE R&s LAB EXAM and recently came to know ABOUT SDN
so, my query was that now we network engineers need to know the programming too llike c# , phython , power shell etc .. to keep our jobs safe when comparing to freshers who know this all languages and some networking skills
and one more thing does INE was going to have bootcamps on SDN and also the workbooks for it

    • Alessio says:

      Hi Mohd Imran Ali,
nothing to worry about . There is no CCIE who does not have some programming skills. You do need them for many reasons, first of which could be the fact that a granular control requires some conditions and that the entire networking world (from DC devices to Sec via RS and SP) with no regard to brand or field, is defining “modules” to work with rather than rewriting each time the entire code for the same applications and/or networks logic. In fact, our jobs will be safe as long as our skills will be sharp enough !! :)

  33. [...] 0 Comments Posted by Brian Dennis, CCIE #2210 in CCIE R&S TweetI hope everyone enjoyed the IPv4 Route Redistribution session on Friday. The turnout was amazing to say the least. We got off to a late start due to [...]

  34. zeus says:

Is there a way to watch this and other AAP videos with higher playing speed like 1.25x or 1.5x? Many of these topics are just review for many of us and there is a perceivable time saving if we can watch them quickly. I am using this feature extensively on coursera and it saves lot of time.

    thanks Brian in advance!

  35. philip Inshanally says:

it was awesome to see Brian take time out of his schedule to share his knowledge and best practices about redistribution. :)

  36. slingblade says:

Thanks for awesome ipv4 redistribution seminar. Looking forward to IPv4 multicast and MPLS L3 VPNs. Ya alright…SDN
