More updates have been posted tonight to the CCIE Routing & Switching Lab Workbook Volume 1 Version 5.0 Beta on the member’s site. Bridging & Switching, Frame Relay, IP Routing, RIP, and EIGRP are now posted. Also there is a new feature that indicates when the files were updated last, so you will always know if you have the most current version.

The files are available as regular PDFs now instead of locklizard, and include both a visible watermark at the bottom and the new “hidden” steganographic watermarking system. Please post all questions about the content to IEOC.

Stay tuned, more updates will be posted in the new few days!

IEWB-RS Volume I Version 5 Bridging and Switching labs are now significantly updated with the detailed breakdown sections and are posted on the members site. This section alone is nearly 200 pages now. A sample of them can be viewed here. Questions and comments should be posted on the CCIE R&S Lab Workbook Volume I Version 5.0 section of Internetwork Expert’s Online Community.

Happy labbing!

Cisco posted an announcement today on the CCDE page of the Cisco Learning Network.

REGISTER NOW for the BETA Practical Exam
Cisco is now registering beta candidates for the CCDE Practical Exam. Cisco has finished development of the second exam needed to attain the CCDE certification, the practical exam, and is now soliciting candidates for the beta delivery.

Cisco will be offering this beta delivery of the exam on October, 1 in Chicago, Illinois at a VUE professional testing center. Only candidates that have a passing score on the CCDE qualification exam may register and participate in this exam. Exam beta pricing is $980US. Register Now by email at: ccdebeta@cisco.com

Luckily for me I live in Chicago so it won’t be too far of a trek. :) If the written exam is any indication of the content that will be tested on in the practical exam, it’s sure to be an interesting one. The good news is that I have just under three months to finish reading the few hundred thousand pages of Solutions Reference Network Design guides.

Also as a side note the Chicago Cubs are still in first place in the National League! If you are going to be in town for the CCDE beta shoot me an email. Maybe we can arrange an Internetwork Expert sponsored field trip to playoff baseball at Wrigley Field! ;)

Before this exciting news, a quick introduction. My name is Josh Finke, Director of Operations for Internetwork Expert. Along with Brian Dennis and Brian McGahan, I am currently attending CiscoLive Networkers 2008 in Orlando Florida.

After speaking with multiple Cisco employees within the wireless group, the Wireless CCIE has been confirmed. Beta candidate registration should begin this fall, along with a blueprint release. Beginning early 2009 the Wireless CCIE beta testing will begin! As of now, topics of the test are expected to cover all aspects of wireless from design through implementation including the implications of security, routing and switching and voice technologies. Check back often for any additional information!

I’ve setup a new forum for the new Volume I Version 5 content. Please post all questions and comments about it here.

For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about, there is a new version of the R&S Volume I labs :)   If you are a current Volume I Version 4 customer you can request access to the new beta material automatically.  To access the new material login to your http://members.internetworkexpert.com account and click on the upgrade link to the right of the “R&S Lab Workbook Volume I v4.1″ link. You’ll be sent an email with instructions on how to use our new locklizard pdf reader, and you’ll see a new course subscription in the members site for the new content access. The documents can be printed twice each, but viewed an unlimited amount of times.

If you are going to use our rack rentals for configuring the labs there are some major feature enhancements that we’ve been working on. You can now load initial configs, save your configs, and reload your saved configs on demand to any rack session that you have. Next to your active rack session you’ll see a link that says “Beta CP” for the new control panel.

Due to the enormous response to my posting Monday we’ve setup an automated method to request access to the new beta material.

Please let me know what you think of the new content format and any ways that we can improve it.

Thanks,

Brian McGahan
