Friday Oct 11th starting at 10am PDT I'm going to be holding an all day online R&S CCIE session covering IPv4 Route Redistribution Configuration and Troubleshooting. From the R&S CCIE Bootcamps I know that some of the more popular topics are IPv4 route redistribution, IPv4 multicast and MPLS L3 VPNs. I'm going to start with IPv4 route redistribution first since it can be covered in a single 5 to 6 hour session. I'll cover the other two later this month as IPv4 multicast and MPLS L3 VPNs each needs to spanned over two days (two 6 or 7 hour sessions) to fully cover them. Let me know in the comments what other topics you would like to see done after. Please say SDN! ;-)

To sign up for the session click here. These sessions will be recorded and the configurations will be available so you can follow along with the recordings. I will be using the larger 32 device R&S topology which can be rented through your members site account.

Here is our updated and simplified CCIE bootcamp reseat policy:

Bootcamp Retake Policy
INE invites all students to retake a Bootcamp course for only a $500-per-week rack rental fee. Routing & Switching Bootcamps are excluded from the fee and are free of charge. How do you know whether seats are available for a Bootcamp retake? It's simple! As long as the Bootcamp is not labeled “Sold Out” on our website, you can retake it. Unlike other training companies, we do not limit the number of seats for students retaking a course.

It really doesn't get any better and simpler than this. For the non-R&S CCIE bootcamps if you calculate the reseat fee out the $500 is cheaper than you renting the rack yourself for a week especially for our Service Provider bootcamps and new Data Center Bootcamps.

The Routing and Switching CCIE Bootcamp dates have been updated for the first half of 2013. You'll notice that there are more bootcamps on the East Coast (RTP, NC Orlando, FL) along with San Jose CA next year. I've added another London date as the February bootcamp is already sold out. Also we're working on a couple other locations for public R&S CCIE bootcamps overseas but we haven't firmed up the locations and dates yet.

For those attending Cisco Live in Orlando this year we will be having another big party like we did in San Diego earlier this year. If you are planning on taking the lab exam at Cisco Live in Orlando we have a 10 Day Bootcamp and Troubleshooting Bootcamp the weeks leading up to Cisco Live.

In addition to the 5 CCIE R&S Scholarships that Brian Dennis announced last week, we have decided to add on 2 more scholarships, specifically for the CCIE Voice track. Just like Brian with R&S, I will personally select two people to receive everything they need to pass the CCIE Voice Lab Exam (Newly-formatted 10-Day CCIE Voice bootcamp, Voice Rack tokens, Voice workbooks, all Voice-related videos for CCNA Voice, CCNP Voice and CCIE Voice, along with CCIE Voice Mock Assessment Labs). This includes paying for their actual lab exam fee once they feel ready to attempt it. Using these products will be straightforward as you work along a clearly defined path to the CCIE Voice Lab Exam.

We are excited to be able to give back to the community in this way, and we are excited to see how it has changed lives. In fact, I recently had the privilege of having one of the winners from Brian and Brian's previous CCIE Scholarship program - Mr. Jeriel Atienza from Angola - in my recent 10-Day CCIE Voice bootcamp in Dubai. He had passed the CCIE Routing and Switching, which had changed him and his new family's life in such a positive way, and he was back for more with the CCIE Voice. It was very nice to see an up-close-and-personal example of how such a thing can really help someone.

As Brian mentioned, more information including how to enroll into this scholarship program will be shortly forthcoming.

As many of you already know I've been teaching our brand new Routing and Switching CCIE bootcamps for the past couple months. I've recently restructured the bootcamp in that mock labs are not done during the second week to allow for expanded coverage of the CCIE blueprint topics. The mock labs are now done after the bootcamp and I give every student 1500 tokens to schedule them. The new structure allows for roughly 100+ hours of hands-on demonstration using my own rack over the course of the two weeks. I start at 9am and go until roughly 8pm each night (Friday's included). After 8pm the students usually go for dinner and start working on the labs and/or review for the next day. Every topic is covered hands-on by me during the two weeks. Students are given the R&S CCIE ATC Videos free of charge when scheduling the bootcamp because even with 100+ hours we do not have time to cover the basics.

As far as my teaching style goes I do not use PowerPoint slides or just draw on a whiteboard. I break the technologies down, explain how they work and then do everything hands-on. Students learn by actually seeing me configure, verify, and troubleshoot the topics in the CCIE Lab Exam Blueprint. Most students follow along with me using their own dedicated rack that we of course provide. That is the differentiating factor of my style. I do not just tell you how something works using a PowerPoint slide or whiteboard, I show you on the routers and switches. My logic is that if your CCIE instructor can't do everything hands-on from the CCIE Lab Exam Blueprint right there in the bootcamp, then they shouldn't be your CCIE instructor. If you walk in Monday morning and they throw you labs to do while they sit there checking their email or browsing the web, then they shouldn't be your CCIE instructor. If your CCIE instructor wants to waste your time talking about meditation, exercise or what fruits to eat when preparing for your exam, then they shouldn't be your CCIE instructor. These people may be nice guys but they're wasting your time and money. At the end of the day you're in the bootcamp to learn so before buying any CCIE bootcamp make sure you know what exactly will be covered and how much time the instructor will spend teaching. I literally stand up for 10 to 12 hours a day covering the topics not because I like to be hard on my feet but there is so much that I want to cover in the two weeks. In fact I've recently added a R&S CCIE Troubleshooting Bootcamp to spend an additional week focusing purely on the troubleshooting portion of the CCIE Lab Exam. You even get to use the same awful desktop like you will have in the real lab during the Troubleshooting Bootcamp. As you can tell I’m deeply passionate about teaching networking and Cisco in general plus I really enjoy helping people.

Here are a couple reviews from a student in my last London bootcamp to get an idea of my style: (review 1 and review 2).

In addition to the new structure I've built 24 new R&S CCIE racks for the bootcamps. These racks are identical to the Cisco 360 topology. The racks all have 4 x 3560's and a mix of 1841s, 2811s & 3825s. I of course do not use the Cisco 360 course materials as I have a totally different teaching methodology as mentioned above. During the bootcamp I VPN into my rack to use tools like Wireshark along with EEM Packet Capture to help students get a better understanding of how technologies like PIM, DHCP Relay, etc work in addition to show and debugging commands. I've also just added in virtual machines to my rack to generate traffic for the testing and verification of topics like QoS, WCCP, AAA, etc. Just talking about these technologies isn't enough to truly understand them. Seeing a topic like WCCP implemented (filter and/or caching webpages) helps students get a better understanding of not only how to configure, verify and troubleshoot it but how the technology is used in the real world.

We’ve had a lot of growth recently here at INE. In addition to making Inc 5000’s list of fastest growing education companies (we'll also make the list next year) we’ve built new classrooms in Bellevue, WA (greater Seattle area). Our new offices and classrooms are on the same floor in the Bellevue City Center building as Cisco. The Cisco employees in my last bootcamp liked being located next to the Cisco office. We've added a whole new video production department here in Bellevue and the quality of our new videos really shows.

If anyone has attended an INE R&S CCIE Bootcamp in the past that wasn't taught by me, I highly recommend that you comeback and sit one of my bootcamps. It's no cost to you of course to resit the bootcamp. All you need to do is contact sales to get your seat reserved. I would also like to encourage potential students to come audit one of my bootcamps before purchasing. I will be in Dubai, Washington DC, RTP, NYC, London, Seattle and Amsterdam.

Lastly I would like to give back by starting up the CCIE Scholarship Program again for 2012. I will personally select one person from each of the following regions to receive everything they need to pass the CCIE Lab Exam (bootcamp, tokens, workbooks, videos, etc) including paying for their lab exam fee. The regions are Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia and Oceania as defined by Wikipedia. The details about the Scholarship Program will be posted next week.

INE has posted our initial class schedules for Q1 Y2010. The new schedule covers Routing and Switching, Security, Service Provider, and Voice classes, delivered both onsite and online. The bootcamp locations include Reno, Chicago, London, Miami and Raleigh-Durham (RTP) and Amsterdam. There certainly is the possibility that more locations, such as Dubai, will be added to this list soon. Email us at sales@INE.com if you have any additional locations to suggest!

In addition to the new schedule, you may want to check our current 2009 bootcamps, just in case you need a class soon. Note that starting October 2009, all R&S bootcamps (Kickstart, 5-Day, 12-Day, and the Mock Lab Workshop) follow the new CCIE R&S Version 4.X blueprint format. This means these classes cover IOS 12.4T features, MPLS VPNs, and the dedicated Troubleshooting section. These topics are in addition to the Core Knowledge section, which is already addressed in our bootcamps and with the popular Core Knowledge Simulation! Speaking of the Core Knowledge section be sure to look for some exciting blog posts about that soon.

Best of all, for a limited time (about one month following this announcement) all classes can be booked for a discount of 25%! In addition to this, you may purchase an R&S class (5-Day or 12-Day) bundled with the Advanced Technologies CoD or the CCNP CoD for the price of just the bootcamp! The ATC CoD serves as a perfect knowledge refresher for those going to the 5-Day bootcamp for the first time. And bundling the bootcamp with the CCNP CoD is an excellent choice for those looking to jump straight from CCNP to CCIE, or for those that need a CCNP refresh for the Core Knowledge section. Time to stop.. or you want more? Then you might consider another training package, which adds the CCIE R&S Audio Bootcamp and the set of our twenty, full-scale VOL2 labs at no additional cost to a 5-Day or 12-Day CCIE R&S bootcamps! This combination is perfect for those who feel solid with the fundamental stuff and need an extensive, non-stop practicing before taking the lab. It's up to you to make your selection - good old discount, or any of the three value-added packages! You can find all about the special R&S offers by following this link.

As for CCIE Service Provider or Security classes, you may purchase an on-site class bundled with the respective Advanced Technology CoD for the price of the on-site class alone. This is an excellent choice for those seeking to cement their foundational understanding before attending the actual bootcamp. Check out the special offerings for SP here or follow this link for SC specials. And finally, if you're looking to enroll into a CCIE Voice class saving 25% off the price, you may want to go and purchase a seat following this link!

As always, thank you for choosing INE, and we hope to see you in a virtual or physical classroom very soon!
